Trimming & Pruning- Frequently Asked Questions

Feel free to reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Routine trimming and pruning offers multiple benefits:

  • Improves Safety:     Reduces the risk of falling limbs, especially during storms.
  • Boosts Tree Health:     Helps prevent disease and allows better air and sunlight penetration.
  • Protects Property:     Keeps branches from damaging roofs, fences, and power lines.
  • Enhances Appearance:     Maintains clean, balanced growth for a well-kept look.
  • Promotes Longevity:     Encourages strong, stable growth patterns for years to come.

They are mostly the same job, the biggest difference is the desired outcome:

  • Tree trimming :    is primarily done to control shape and growth, improve curb appeal,      and clear branches from structures or walkways.
  • Tree pruning :    is more focused on the health and safety of the tree. It involves      selective cuts to remove dead, diseased, or structurally weak branches      that could become hazardous.

Most mature trees benefit from professional trimming every 2–3 years, but faster-growing or ornamental trees may need it more frequently. We recommend a seasonal inspection—especially before hurricane season—to identify potential risks or overgrowth early.

The ideal time depends on the type of tree and your goals, but in general:

  • Late winter to early spring is best for most trees. This is when they’re still dormant, allowing for cleaner cuts and faster recovery before the growing season begins.
  • After flowering is ideal for ornamental trees and shrubs that bloom in spring—this ensures you don’t cut off next season’s buds.
  • Year-round spot pruning is okay for removing dead or hazardous limbs.

It's also never a bad idea to schedule tree trimming before hurricane season (June–November). Removing weak limbs and reducing canopy density can dramatically lower the risk of storm-related damage to your home and property.

We’re happy to evaluate your trees and recommend the right schedule to keep them strong, healthy, and storm-ready.

Minor touch-ups on small, low branches may be manageable for homeowners—but for anything larger, higher, or near power lines, it’s best to call in the pros. Improper cuts can harm your tree, reduce its lifespan, or even cause injury. Our experienced team uses professional equipment and follows industry best practices to ensure safe and effective care.
